Low back pain or pain in low back is experienced by a significant number of people nowadays. It has known to have given discomfort to anyone who has it, interfering work and the activities of daily living. Pain in low back usually begin from the muscles, bones, joints , nerves and some other structures of the spine.
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, back pain has become the second most common neurological ailment in the United States.
Pain in low back can be categorized as acute if the pain has occurred for a month or less. It is said to be chronic if the pain has persisted for more than three months.
Oftentimes, the main cause of pain in low back is muscle experiencing strain or spasm. An injury may cause to have a pain in low back of a person. The severity of the pain depends on the type of injury that occurred. There are certain diseases also that can cause the low back pain such as osteoporosis, viral infections, kidney failure, and congenital diseases related to the spine. Other factors why pain in low back is recurring are cigarette smoking, obesity, inappropriate sleeping position, poor posture, and stress.
It is fortunate for some that the pain in low back can be relieved by some of the home remedies that are known to them. The most common is to have a good rest of the affected area for about 2-3 days. Prolonged bed rest is not advisable as this can just aggravate the low back pain that is experienced.
After few days of rest, avoid lifting any heavy objects that can further the muscle strain or spasm and may complicate the muscular condition of the lower back.
